Welcome to the EDWI!

On Tuesday 1st May, the first ever meeting of the up and coming East Dulwich Women's Institute was held at Green and Blue Wines in East Dulwich. It all started with a post on the East Dulwich Forum by katiesa looking for a "young and trendy" WI group in the area. It soon became clear there wasn't one, but there were quite a number of young and not-so-young forum members interested in the idea, and before she knew it, Katie was organising a planning meeting.

The first meeting was very well attended - 19 came, and more sent their apologies, and the planning is well underway. Elfy's report is up on the forum and the EDWI blog will be keeping you updated on future meetings and events.

Many thanks to all who came, and to anyone out there who is thinking of joining in, please don't be shy - we're a friendly bunch, and the creation of this group is very much a team effort.

This is fantastic. I'm sure a local WI will be a great asset to East Dulwich -- any organisation that slow-handclaps a prime minister at their annual conference is OK by me.

I've always wanted to live in a village community and now, perhaps, I can have it without having to leave London. All we need now is a cricket team and a parish council!

Wishing you success!

There's a great cricket club in Dulwich, well worth spending Saturdays or Sundays lazily watching a game while consuming non Duliwch priced drinks. www.dulwichcc.com

This sounds like a great idea and I'd actually be interested. I was contemplating joining the Senior Section of Guides to get out more as I'm still young enough for that but this might be more my cup of tea!

Sounds great - do you have the email address of the women who I should contact about joining up?

Hi Amelia

Not sure if you've seen the post about the EDWI google group, but if not, visit: http://groups.google.co.uk/group/edwi to join and keep abreast of what's going on.

The next event is now on Wednesday 6th June, so hope you can make it.

Hi

I'm interested in joining East Dulwich WI. However, would love to know more about what I could contribute and what's on the calendar for the next few weeks/months that I could participate in.
Looking forward to hearing more.
